Barn Surveys

Structural barn surveys are often undertaken at the planning stage of a proposed barn conversion. They are generally required by the local authority to prove the structural adequacy of the barn for the proposed change of use. Our report will describe the general condition of the barn and outline any remedial repair works that may need to be undertaken to safeguard its structural stability. Subsequent to a visual appraisal it will also suggest, where possible, the likely adequacy of the barn's structure to support any additional loading associated with modern conversions.

Once planning approval is gained for a barn conversion it is typical that structural calculations will need to be provided in light of architectural plans for Building Regulations Approval. Should this be required, this service is explained separately under the "Domestic Engineering Renovations / Conversions" services section of this site.
